Can I apply to more than one location and role?
You can apply for both an insight day and vacation scheme every year, but we ask that you specify which location suits you best.
Do you accept applications for vacation schemes from mature graduates?
We accept applications from mature students as well as from anyone looking to change career.
What are your academic requirements? Do you take mitigating circumstances into account?
Our academic requirements are AAB and a 2.1 at A level, but we will always take mitigating circumstances into account and look at each application using Rare’s contextualised recruitment system.
Can I complete my vacation scheme or training contract interview from one of the Clyde & Co offices overseas if I am not in the UK?
Unfortunately as our assessment process includes a group interview, this cannot be undertaken from one of our overseas offices.
Will I receive feedback if I am unsuccessful in my application for a vacation scheme or training contract?
Unfortunately due to the high number of applications we receive, we are unable to offer feedback after the application stage. However, we will always provide detailed feedback if you are unsuccessful after the second stage of the application process or after attending a vacation scheme at Clyde & Co.
Does Clyde & Co have a preferred provider for the GDL and LPC?
Our preferred provider for the LPC is BPP, but we don’t have a preferred provider for the GDL.
Are there any LPC modules that are compulsory?
We ask all of our future trainee solicitors to complete a module in Insurance Law as part of their LPC with BPP.
Will I have to complete a seat in Guildford during my training contract?
If you join the London and Guildford training contract, you may be expected to complete a seat in Guildford.
Does the firm offer international secondments as part of the training contract?
Trainees can apply for an international secondment during their training contract. Previous trainees have spent six months in our Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Dar Es Salaam, Hong Kong, Paris, San Francisco and Singapore offices.
Can I defer my start date for a year once I have accepted a training contract offer?
We look at deferral requests on a case by case basis. We consider whether the extra year will provide you with additional skills that will be useful to you when you begin your training contract.
Does the firm offer client secondments as part of the training contract?
All trainees can apply to spend six months on a client secondment. The secondments that we offer include some of our top key clients.
How does the firm keep in touch with future trainees whilst on the LPC and before they join the firm?
Clyde & Co is dedicated to keeping in touch and engaging with future trainees:
- We host an LPC induction in the London office in September.
- We nominate an LPC ambassador who updates the graduate team and manages the social budget.
- Whilst on the LPC, you’ll be allocated a mentor who will guide you throughout your LPC and training contract.
- Ahead of joining the firm and making seat choices, we host “Department Days,” where a fee-earner from every department gives a presentation on their sector.
- The graduate team run LPC drop-in sessions at BPP University on a regular basis.
- We also host a future joiner Christmas party, where you can network and socialise with fellow trainees.
Do you offer work experience outside of your formal programmes?
We do not offer work experience outside of our formal programmes.
What's the breakdown between those who have studied law and those from a non-law background?
Each intake consists of approximately 50% law and 50% non- law students.
Will the firm cover my travel expenses if I attend an interview or assessment session with Clyde & Co?
We will always cover travel expenses if you attend an interview with us. You will need to keep the receipts and submit them along with your bank details to the graduate team.
