Vacation schemes

We recruit for our training contracts exclusively via our vacation schemes.

Start your career

Step behind the scenes of Clyde & Co and experience what a career with us may look like.

We run a series of two-week vacation schemes across our London and Manchester offices. These two weeks will give you a real insight into Clyde & Co, the opportunity to learn about how the law is applied in our core industry sectors and work in the department of your choice.

At Clyde & Co we recruit our trainees exclusively via our vacation schemes. As we recruit two years in advance for our training contracts, you should start applying for a vacation scheme in the second year of a law degree or the third year of a non-law degree. We offer training contracts in London and Manchester.

The deadline for applications is 5 January 2020.

What to expect

See how our lawyers provide a complete legal service to clients in our core practice areas

Experience real work by observing cases from clients and get the opportunity to draft responses and provide advice

Attend court hearings, arbitrations and mediations to view the different types of litigation available

Get involved in significant deals, meetings and negotiations

Attend seminars, networking events and social events with colleagues and clients

Benefit from a dedicated buddy who will keep in touch with you during and after the vacation scheme

"The scheme was an invaluable experience which solidified my decision in deciding whether the firm was right for me."

How we support you

During your two week-long vacation scheme, you’ll benefit from the guidance of a senior fee earner, who will supervise and allocate you work on a daily basis. An associate mentor from a department outside of the seat you’re allocated will also provide advice and give you another perspective of life at Clyde & Co.

We invest in our vacation scheme students by allowing them to work in the department of their choice. You’ll also be invited to social events where you can network with as many people from the firm as possible.

“Even in just two weeks, I was able to get a real sense of a trainee's role and responsibilities… I came away having picked up valuable skills and learning about the workings of my department.”

The application process

We screen all applications on a rolling basis. If your application is successful, you will be invited into our London or Manchester office for a half-day assessment.

The vacation scheme assessment centre usually consists of a group exercise around your commercial acumen, followed by a 45-minute interview with a graduate team member and a lawyer. We also provide lunch, and our current trainees give you a tour of the office – the perfect opportunity to ask them any questions you may have about the firm.vv
