BECOME A BRILLIANT LAWYER

Our two-year training contract will give you everything you need to become a future leader with us. The type of work you’ll do will vary depending on whether you join us in England or Scotland, and within each country it even varies from office to office. You can get more details about the specific differences by choosing the country where you’d like to work, but we’ve also put together some general points here too.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Undertake a specialist Global Trainee Induction – it will give you a great foundation from which to start building your skills and experience
  • Train in a variety of practice areas across a number of specialisms, both locally and internationally
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of our work and our high-profile clients, developing your skills along the way
  • Apply for international or client secondments (depending on your development needs and our requirements as a firm)
  • Experience up to three contentious seats if you’re interested in litigation

  • Tap into our expertise in disputes – we have an outstanding reputation

  • Choose from a wealth of non-dispute corporate and commercial practice areas

  • Remember, you can only make a vacation scheme application to one office

FROM DAY ONE

Read through some of the typical features of our trainees' two year training contracts.

At the start of your training, you’ll take part in a three week induction designed to ensure you have the skills, knowledge and commercial acumen you need to get off to a flying start. Taking place in London, this is also an opportunity for you to meet your fellow new trainees from across the UK and MEA.

Some of the most senior people in our firm will give you an overview of our strategy, values and client focus. You’ll also have sessions with external experts which will help you to improve your writing and drafting skills, to grow your understanding of the business side of things and how you can contribute to our profitability, and to build your stakeholder relationships skills.

Throughout the induction, there’ll be plenty of social activities which will help you to build a collaborative network of support ready for when you go into your first seat.

Our training contracts are made up of four 6-month seats – these won’t be set in stone as we want you to take ownership of your own learning and development. But the size and changing needs of our firm mean you will need to be flexible about your allocations. We can guarantee that you’ll experience a range of practice areas and sectors.

We’ve even introduced a Seat Rotation app to help ensure your training contract is tailored to your preferences – you can choose and rate seats in line with your preferences.

When you move into your first seat, you’ll get training and support, including:

●        Practice-specific training in substantive law

●        Seat rotation training so that you can smoothly transition from one practice to another

●        Monthly trainee legal updates so you can share your experiences, knowledge and technical expertise

●        A dedicated supervisor who’ll evaluate your progress and support your development
